Round & About with WSHS - History Through Photography

Wednesday | March 9, 2022 | 7:00 - 8:00pm

This presentation will take you on a tour of your own backyard as we discuss the historical significance of the places whose images were captured for the exhibit.  WSHS and WSPC have been visiting & photographing historic and other sites in Hampden, Lower Allen, Lemoyne and Wormleysburg, with group trips to the Sheepford Road Bridge, Peace Church, Rebecca Bitner House, and Basehore Farm.  Individual trips to other sites were also encouraged, from a list of properties provided by WSHS.  A brief introduction to West Shore Historical Society and a summary of what we learned from this project will also be shared.

Presenters:  Don Paul Shearer, President - WSHS

Create Amazing Photos with Your Phone Camera

Thursday | March 17, 2022 | 2:00 - 3:30pm

Are you happy with the photos that you take with your phone’s camera? Do you keep thinking that they could look better? This is your opportunity to learn how to use your phone to take photos that you previously thought were only possible with a professional-level camera.

You will learn specific tips and techniques for phone photography as well as the time-honored principles of composition and lighting. Your instructor is a retired educator with over 40 years of experience as a photographer – who has discovered that he really can create amazing pictures with his phone camera.

Your instructor uses an iPhone 8 Plus, but the basic concepts presented in the class are applicable to all brands of phone cameras.

Instructor: Dennis Baker, President of the West Shore Photography Club.

Around the World

Wednesday | March 23, 2022 | 7:00 - 8:30pm

Joe Farrell, Vice President of the West Shore Photography Club will take you on a sampling tour around the world to experience how we are so different but yet are the same!  We will explore how we cook, clean, work, pray, play and live everyday life and do this in many differing cultures.  From the mountains of the Andes to the Himalayas,  to the plains of Mongolia to the Serengeti, from the streets of Sri Lanka to the water streets of Myanmar, from the old towns of Cuba to the modern Dubai, from the repressive regimes of Tibet to the people of Siberia, from the cold of Greenland to the heat of Namibia and more.  All of this and more will be explored through the lens of Joe’s travels in far off places.  Questions will be entertained along our vast journey

Presenter: Joe Farrell, Vice President of the West Shore Photography Club.
